DailyBooth Launches DBv3

Imagine my surprise went I went to bed about five hours ago to the old trusted version of DailyBooth and woke up to the all new DailyBooth Version 3. (DBv3) Here is how it was rolled out by Jon and the gang from the DB Blog:

http://blog.dailybooth.com/

Having been on DB for over a year, I am part of the crowd that seen it grow from its small town feel to its to metropolitan experience. Along with the growth came the parasites, the spammers, and the new version now has a report feature that allows you to report the offender. Sort of a neighborhood crime watch!

I also like how the comment feature for each booth remains static so that you do not have to roll down to the bottom through all of the other comments to have a chance to leave your mark.

Finally, while this does not cover all the new improvements one other is the ability to be notified of comments on old booths. Before if you had not been tagged or searched out through your booths any new comments, then you would be unaware that a friend commented on a booth from a year ago.

Pretty awesome upgrades. Albert known as @Albertsbooth is a big fan!

For $10 which goes to the Town of Speedway's Chamber of Commerce, you can take a lap around the Brickyards famed 2.5 mile oval in your own car. It is a laid back day with about 40,000 or so people attending. Friday is Carb day which is a big party day and the final proactive for the 33 car starting field. ZZTop will perform in the infield! Saturday is "Parade Day". The Indy 500 Festival Parade is the second biggest parade in the USA behind the Rose Bowl Parade. Sunday is the Race. Approximately 500,000 fans will attend the race with billions watching worldwide. Three special fans will be my online friend from Arkansas, Mike along with his brother and wife. Rich and his dad will be watching the race with Mike and his family in the infield in Turn 3 which is where the party is! 2010 Opening Day At the Indianapolis Motor Speedway

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway saw action today as veterans and rookies both got track time on Opening Day for the 2010 Indy 500.

Helio Castroneves, driving the No. 3T Team Penske car, was the beneficiary of a significant tow that allowed him to post the fastest lap of the day of 39.7170 seconds (226.603 mph) on the 2.5-mile oval. “It’s always good when you start with a positive wave, but there is certainly still a lot of work to go,” said Castroneves, who on May 30 will seek to win his record-tying fourth 500 Mile Race.

Target Chip Ganassi Racing teammates Dario Franchitti (226.535 mph) and Scott Dixon (226.237) – who won the 2007 and 2008 Indy 500s – were next on the list. Dan Wheldon, runner-up to Castroneves in the 500 Mile Race last year, was fourth (225.609) in the No. 4 National Guard Panther Racing car. Ed Carpenter, competing in an IZOD IndyCar Series event for the first time since the ’09 season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway, was seventh quick (224.592 mph) in the No. 20 Fuzzy’s Vodka entry for Panther Racing/Vision Racing.

Indy Cars Start to appear at local Stores!

Part of Indy tradition is that Indy "show" cars, that is cars that appear to be actual Indy Cars but may not even have an engine in them, start showing up at local merchants.

Here is one with a Miller Lite paint scheme. Millers last blast of glory came with Bobby Rahal's Indy 500 win in 1985.

New Look For Team Penske

Team Penske Unveils the look for their Indy Cars for 2010.

The looks while still screams Penske Performance is a departure from the traditional flying pack of cigarettes used in the past.

Will be easier to identify the drivers on the back wing as well.

This could be one future of Indy Car Racing-The Delta Wing which I blogged about January 21, 2010. Pretty cool simulation!

I am not real sure if this is what we want to see at the Brickyard but you have to compliment the out of the box thinking.

Congratulations to the Saints.

Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints won the SuperBowl denying Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts a second SuperBowl in 4 years.

While deeply disappointed at our lost I am truly happy that the city of New Orleans have a championship to rally around to continue their recovery from Katrina.

Peyton, Reggie, Saturday and the rest are far from finished and I look forward to next season. I still feel we have the classiest team in sports and on this day just not the best team. The Saints were smart, they were aggressive and they took this win.

2010 will be a great season yet again and hopefully we will finish with another SuperBowl Victory!

GO COLTS!

SuperBowl XLIV

Today the Indianapolis Colts will have the opportunity to have the team enter the discussion of best team ever and its Quarterback, Peyton Manning the opportunity to be considered the greatest QB ever.

The Colts return to Miami where they won the 2006 SuperBowl XLI and earlier this season won with a 4th quarter comeback against the Dolphins.

I of course am going with the Colts and feel they will win by 14 points. Look for the defense to bring an epic performance, holding the Saints to 14 points, way below their average this season.

GO COLTS!

George's Vision Racing Up In Smoke

Today marks a sad day in Indy Car Racing as Curt Cavin of the Indianapolis Star reports that Tony George's Indy-car team suspended operations today due to a lack of sponsorship, completing a downfall of his involvement with major open-wheel racing.

Tony George resigned his position as CEO of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway last summer, in part because of his commitment to Vision Racing. George subsequently resigned his leadership role with the Indy Racing League, a series he started in 1996 as an alternative to CART. The IRL is credited with providing a low cost alternative to the costs of open wheel racing that was spiraling out of control in US Open Wheel Racing.

Last season the team posted its best result out of 121 starts-a second place finish at Kentucky Speedway. Team Penske's Ryan Briscoe edged George's step son, Ed Carpenter at the finish line by 0.0162 seconds.

"We're suspending operations, but I don't know fully what that means," Carpenter said. "We're still pursuing opportunities to resume operations."

Nothing yet has been posted at Visions web site, www.visionracing.com

The Delta Wing

There has been a lot of talk about the Delta Wing Project. This is a conceptual car that may be the future of Indy Car racing.

At this point there is not sufficient information about the project for me to have an opinion of the chassis. The Indy Racing League (IRL) have made it clear that financially it would make sense to only have one chassis supplier for the league due to the cost factor. It is more cost effective if one supplier supplies the whole league to get the best price.

Where does this leave Dallera. the current supplier? What of the direction of going to multiple engine suppliers? Stay tuned for more information.
